  1. Good afternoon,

My name is Carmen Chiu and I, along with Casey Flores, are the student assistants for the Youth Employment Opportunity Program (YEOP) at the Employment Development Department on 801 Turk Street in San Francisco.

YEOP provides services to youth, ages 15 through 25, to assist them in achieving their educational and vocational goals. The program emphasizes education, assessment, and peer advising. In order to provide these services, Casey and I provide peer advising, referral to supportive services, job referrals, YEOP workshops as well as referral to trainings. In order to be eligible for the program, the youth would be between the ages of 15 through 25, as well as at risk of not achieving their educational goals. This includes high school drop outs and potential dropouts. Some high risk characteristics include youthful offender, poor literacy skills, limited English skills, member of a minority group, gang member/associate, and economically disadvantaged.

The next YEOP orientation will be on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 from 3:45PM to 5:00PM at 801 Turk Street in San Francisco. During the orientation, Casey and I will introduce the program, explain the enrollment process, and discuss what YEOP can offer, as well as EDD program and resources. I included the YEOP Orientation to this email as an attachment. I would highly appreciate it if you could possibly pass on the information to any youth that may possibly be interested. Feel free to contact Casey or myself if you have any questions at all about the program.
